'Bedlam in Bedrock': Mystery Dinner Theater for a Cause
The T-Rex Lounge in Bedrock is the center of some very serious undertakings as the audience will discover when the Barn Players, Inc. present “Bedlam in Bedrock” on Friday and Saturday.
Performances will occur during the amateur theater troupe’s sixth annual fundraising mystery dinner theater in the Park Place at 20 N. Eighth St. in Miles City.
Doors open at 5:30 p.m. each evening and the show starts at 6 p.m. The meal will be served during the show. Silent auctions and other fundraisers are also planned, and prizes will be awarded for the best audience costumes.
Tickets cost $35 and are available at the Miles City Area Chamber of Commerce at 511 Pleasant St., or by calling (406) 234-2890 or texting/calling (406) 951-0560.
The dinner theater productions are fundraisers for the group, generating more than $15,000 over the years for the Building Fund and the purchase of long-term legacy theater items, according to Hannah Nash, secretary/treasurer of the Barn Players.
“That ‘Building Fund’ will eventually help to fund a permanent home for the Barn as well as other community and artistic endeavors,” Nash explained.
”This year the play was written by the Barn’s own Teresa Foley and Jenifer Mahan,” she added. They also are the play’s directors.
Here’s the trailer. The owner of the T-Rex Lounge, Bluff Vandercliff, lost the club to the notorious mobster Brock Boulder in a bad hand of poker while visiting Rock Vegas. Bluff’s partner, Gemma Stone, is furious. Not one to stay in a sticky situation for long, Bluff has already arranged not only for a benefit to happen at the club — from which he’ll steal all the profits — but for two schmucks — cue Fred Flintrock and Barney Rabble — to “buy” the club from him.
All that’s left to do is to chisel the forms and run off to Rockapocco with the stolen money, with or without Ms. Stone. Only one thing could ruin this perfect plan. Well, maybe a few things. How about a couple of nosy wives overhearing the sordid details, or Mr. Boulder, himself showing up, or a tree-hugging chairwoman making a real mess of things or, last and the worst, someone dying?
Helping to make sense of all of the “Bedlam in Bedrock” craziness is the following cast of characters: Dan Hance as Fred Flintrock; Bobbie Krutzfeldt as Betty Rabble (also known as Will); Khrysten Blunt as Betty Rabble (aka Burt); Duane Giddis as Barney Rabble; Josiah Mahan as club owner Bluff Vandercliff; Anthony Manfredo as health inspector Dirk Trench; Teresa Foley as femme fatale Gemma Stone; John Kassner as mob boss Mr. Big Boulder; Melissa Giddis as SWaBS chairperson Greta Gravel; Jenifer Mahan as club manager Laney Shyrock; Alex Bradford as the bartender; and Cecelia and Lila Freese as the club girls.
Assisting back stage are Rhon Ratliff, Tim Miles and Zach Miles.
