Boys hoops: 5th-6th grade tournament starts tonight

Call it the Little Dance.

The Miles City fifth- and sixth-grade boys basketball program concluded the regular season on Thursday with a pair of games, and will start the first round of their season-ending tournament today at the Custer County District High School gymnasium.

The action begins at 6:30 p.m. when the third-seeded Orange Ballers play thefourth-seeded Gremlins at 6:30 p.m.

The Thundercats earned the No. 2 seed, and will play the fifth-seeded Green Machines at 7:30 p.m.

The Gray Beards earned the No. 1 seed and a bye in the first found. They’ll play at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday against the winner of the game between the Orange Ballers and Gremlins game.

The tournament concludes on Thursday with the championship game slated for 7:30 p.m.

The Gray Beards and the Thundercats were winners in Thursday action.

Orange Ballers 19

The unbeaten Gray Beards built a 12-point lead over three quarters and held on for the win over the Orange Ballers on Thursday.

Ryder Lee led the winners with eight points, while Payton Kuntz netted a game-high 11 points for the Orange Ballers.

Caiden Haycock won the sportsmanship award for the Gray Beards, while Ira Glade was the winner for the Orange Ballers.

Mathew Ray poured in 16 points, including six in the decisive fourth quarter, as the Thundercats came from behind to beat the Gremlins.

Ed Brooks scored 17 of the Gremlins’ 20 points.

Daylond Gamboa was the sportsmanship award winner for the Thundercats, while Kyle McAvoy was the Gremlins’ honoree.
