Cowboys may be done, but plenty going on

I was going to use this space to get into the Cowboys loss in Havre last weekend. Or talk about the records set this year by Ben Herzog and Alec Haughian. But, it’s still a little too raw yet and looking at my notes, and the game film, just brings up bad memories.

On the bright side, eastern Montana football fans still have plenty to cheer for. Baker, Wibaux and Savage all look like they will be playing for state championships in a couple weeks. And the Cowgirl volleyball team has a great chance of getting back to the state tournament next weekend.

So there’s that.

CMR at Capital

As a Capital alum, it was hard to see them lose to Helena last weekend (think losing to Glendive). And CMR has been playing really well lately.....CMR 21, Capital 17

Whitefish at Belgrade

We know what Belgrade is like and as a rule, I don’t trust teams from the Northwestern A.....Belgrade 42, Whitefish 28

Baker at BIgfork

I’ve had Baker as my number one team in Class B all year. They’ve been tested, and won, against some great competition. A 1300 mile drive isn’t going to bother them too much.....Baker 34, Bigfork 17

Simms at Ennis

Not a surprise that Simms won last weekend over Broadus, but 83 points is quite a bit. But from what I’ve heard, Ennis is the team to beat in Class C (although Wibaux has something to say about that).....Ennis 48, Simms 40

Westby-Grenora at Hobson-Moore-Judith Gap

I think this would be a fun one to go to. Hobson is undefeated, Westby’s only loss is to Savage. I imagine a few points will be scored.....Westby 60, Hobson 52

Oregon at Stanford

Oklahoma at Baylor

Uggh. We all picked these games earlier this week and obviously I chose Oregon and Oklahoma. This contest was a stupid idea.

LSU at Alabama

I came up with two rules about picking college games. 1- don’t pick against Oregon and 2- don’t pick against Alabama.....LSU 21, Alabama 14

Montana State at Eastern Washington

Game of the week in the FCS. Lots of playoff implications for both teams, and others in the Big Sky.....Montana State 34, E. Washington 28

Montana at South Dakota

For personal reasons, I’m really hoping the Griz host a playoff game on Nov. 30th.....Montana 41, South Dakota 17

Detroit at Chicago

Jay Cutler playing makes this one a little more interesting. Hard to get a grasp on what’s going on in the NFC North.....Chicago 28, Detroit 24

Carolina at San Francisco

I don’t trust what Carolina has done the last few weeks. I’d like to see it against a top-tier team.....San Francisco 27, Carolina 17

Cincinnati at Baltimore

On one of my fantasy teams, we have Aaron Rodgers and Andy Dalton. Obviously we had started Rodgers for most of the year and were going to use Dalton only on Green Bay’s bye week. A couple weeks ago, my co-owner texted and said we should use the “Other quarterback.” Dalton then scored 31, 32 and 42 points. We still didn’t win, but it’s been fun paying attention to the Bengals. And again, Cameron Wake.....Cincinnati 26, Baltimore 21

Denver at San Diego

So is Philip Rivers good again? I can’t tell.....Denver 42, San Diego 34

Miami at Tampa Bay

What a mess in Miami. The only thing I’ll say about it is, I wish the media would have waited to let the story develop. Seems like it changes every hour or two. Good thing they play Tampa Bay.....Miami 17, Tampa Bay 14
