Four city council seats up for grabs
Five city offices are up for election this year and anyone interested in being a candidate can file for office beginning April 20 at the Custer County Clerk and Recorder/Election Administrator’s Office on the main floor of the Custer County Courthouse.
The deadline for filing is June 19, according to Clerk and Recorder/Election Administrator Linda Corbett.
Offices that are open are the city judge position and one Miles City Council seat in each of the four wards.
Current office holders, whose terms are expiring are Judge Al Homme as the city judge and council members Ken Gardner (Ward 1), Rick Huber (Ward 2), Brant Kassner (Ward 3) and Dwayne Andrews (Ward 4).
Each term is for four years.
The filing fees are $30 for council positions and $220 for the judge position. The fee is 1 percent of the yearly salary.
If there are enough candidates, a primary election can be held on Sept. 12. If not, they all can advance to the General Election on Nov. 7. The City of Miles City will decide whether to hold a primary municipal election.
