Hockey: MC PeeWees finish season

The Miles City Generals Peewee’s hockey team finished off their season this past weekend going 0-2-1 at the PeeWee State Tournament in Missoula. The squad posted an overall record of 11-13-3 this year.

Coach Rick Lang said the finish represents a “big improvement” over recent seasons. “Big things are ahead for this group.” he predicted.

In the opener at the state tournament, Miles City and Bozeman battled to a 6-6 tie.

Peyton Taylor kept the scorekeeper busy, netting four goals. Jacob Hurr and Jacob Steadman also scored for Miles City, while Steadman, Kaden Harding and Caleb Brossman notched assists. Charlie Lang earned the tie in goal for the Generals.

“The kids played well and stuck with it the whole game,” coach Lang said.  “I’m really proud of them.”

In the second game, the Generals dropped a 6-2 decision to Great Falls. Taylor scored both Miles City goals, while Charlie Lang recorded 17 saves.

“The kids were just a little flat this game,” coach Brandon Taylor said.

The Generals lost 7-3 to Missoula in their final outing.

Taylor, C.J. Lang and J.T. Cummins scored goals, while Taylor added an assist. Charlie Lang blocked 19 shots in goal.

“This is one of the few times I am happy about a loss with the effort the kids just put in,” coach Lang said. “Even though the score doesn’t reflect it, a couple different bounces and it is a different story. I’m really proud of how the kids ended the season.”
