Norma T. Svihovec
Norma T. Svihovec, 78, died Sunday, April 27, 2014, in Billings.
Mrs. Svihovec was born Nov. 18, 1935, in Mott, N.D., to Henry H. and Rose C. Neuman Miller. She was raised on the farm and attended Timber Creek Country Grade School south of Mott. She attended school in New England, N.D., Oakland, Calif., and Sacred Heart School in Miles City. She graduated from Mott High School in 1953 and she enrolled at Presentation School of Nursing — Holy Rosary Unit, at Miles City where she received her diploma and Registered Nursing License in 1957.
She and Burnell Henry Svihovec, a Mott native, were married on Aug. 18, 1958. Mrs. Svihovec moved with her husband, Burnell, as he worked as a pharmacist in Mott, Glendive, Miles City, Circle and Terry. They owned the Terry Drug Store upon his retirement.
Mrs. Svihovec had many hobbies including knitting, sewing, ceramics, painting, walking, woodworking and biking. She loved working in her yard and gardening. She enjoyed playing cards, especially bridge and pinochle.
Her survivors include her husband, Burnell; daughter, Vicki (Jeff) Makelky of Big Piney, Wyo.; sons, Bernard (Kim) Svihovec of Colstrip and Mitchell Svihovec of Billings; grandsons, Aaron (Megan), Eric and Calvin Makelky; and one great-grandchild.
She also is survived by one brother, Frank L. Miller of Mott; two sisters, Agatha L. (Miller) Harbac of Bozeman and Blanche R. (Miller) Avery of Albany, Ore.; one sister-in-law, Anne Miller of St. Cloud, Minn.; one step-sister, Helen Swanson of Miles City; along with numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; five brothers, Norbert, Lawrence, Melvin, Maurice and Wilfred Miller; one sister, Agnes M. (Miller) Walker; three step-brothers, Joseph, Donald and Patrick Miller; one step-sister, Margaret (Miller) Shy; and sisters-in-law, Harriet (Larson) Miller, Leona (Kritzberger) Miller and Patricia (Mullin) Miller.
Visitation will be Friday, May 2, 2014, from 1 to 6 p.m. at Stevenson and Sons Funeral Home in Terry followed by a Rosary at 6 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, May 3, 2014, at 11 a.m. in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Terry. Rite of Committal will follow in the Prairie County Cemetery.
