Renay J. Nesdahl

Renay Nesdahl, 68, Minot, ND, passed away Friday, March 3, 2017, in her residence.

Renay Jan Grist was born August 20, 1948, the daughter of Glenn and Celia (Flint) Grist, in Miles City, MT. She was raised and educated in Montana until January of 1959, when the family moved to Minot, ND. 

Renay graduated from Minot High School in 1966. She then attended Minot Business College where she received her degree in Computer Programming, graduating with honors.

Renay was united in marriage with Dale Nesdahl on May 31, 1968 in Minot. They made their home in Minot. Dale passed away July 11, 2013. At the time of her passing, Renay was engaged to marry longtime friend and fiancé, Steven Erickson.

Renay was employed at American State Bank, Souris River Telephone Company and for many years at Trinity Hospital as a computer programmer and technician. Most recently, she worked at Farstad Oil until the time of her retirement.

After flying for a number of years with Dale, Renay received her own pilot’s license in 1981. They took advantage of their planes and flew all over North America. They also flew commercially all over the world.

Renay was a longtime member of the North Dakota State Chili Society, the Dakota Air Museum, and the Moose Lodge.

Surviving family includes:  

Fiancé, Steven Erickson, Minot and his children, Jason (Jessica) Erickson, Fargo and Stephanie Erickson, Everett, WA; grandchildren, Scott, Linda, Breanne, Landon and Cameron; brother, Ronald Grist, Logan, NM; nieces, Angela (Landon) Cook and their daughters Ashley and Alyssa and Melanie Keithley and her son Oliver; brothers-in-law, Orville (Lynda) Nesdahl, Rice Lake, Myron (Connie) Nesdahl, MN and Milton (Louise) Nesdahl, MN, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Renay was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dale Nesdahl; and many beloved family members and friends.

Memorial Service: Friday, March 10, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, Minot, ND.

Visitation: There will be no reviewal, but friends may sign the guest book an hour before the service at the church.
