The Custer County District High School Cowboy wrestling team had their first home action of the season last night, hosting Glendive in a dual. Glendive won the dual 47-15.
The teams were completely open at four weight classes and three more were forfeited, meaning that there were only eight matches that were wrestled.
Five of those eight matches were Glendive pins in the first period and another was a pin in the third period for Glendive.
Bryan Brush came through with the only win for the Cowboys. He battled with Conner Herbaugh of Glendive throughout the match. Brush led 4-1 after the first period and clung to a 6-4 lead after the second.
In the third, Herbaugh took a 7-6 lead on a near-fall, but Brush was able to escape in the final seconds to tie the match and send it to overtime.
In the overtime period, which is ended on the first score, Brush got a take-down of Herbaugh to win the match 9-7.
The only other match that was not ended in a pin was an 18-1 technical fall by Dillon Tennant over Torrey Watts. Tennant is currently ranked second in the state at 138 pounds.
In exhibition matches, Haven Meged heard a quick pin of Riley Handran at the 1:23 mark of the first period.
The Cowboys are in Forsyth this weekend for the Forsyth Invite.
