LAWLOR, Fern L. (98 Years Young) of Spokane, formerly of Miles City, Montana, went to be with her Lord on Dec. 11, 2013.
She was born in North Dakota, the oldest daughter of Roy W. and Charlotte Denniston Griggs. Her family moved to Forsyth, Montana when she was a small child. She attended and graduated from schools there.
In 1935 she married Otis E. Brooks and they lived in Hamilton, Montana, where she attended secretarial school. They later moved to Pasco, WA, where they both worked at Hanford. After the war they bought a bakery in Miles City, MT, which they operated nearly forty years, raising their son and daughters. Her husband Otis preceded her in death in 1953.
She married William T. Lawlor in 1955, who was also a baker. Fern spent all her life helping others through charitable organizations, as a member of 1st Baptist Church and through personal care.
She will be missed by her friends and family, as she loved to tell stories of her life and her family.
Fern is survived by her sister Loma Kreamer, Richland, WA; her son Richard E Brooks, Miles City; her daughters Linda Almli, Spokane, and Margaret (Rex) Morris, Maysville, OK. Her grandchildren include Jim Haggenson (Trish) of Great Falls, MT, Jason (Norma) Almli of Sacramento, CA, Erin Sharp, Spokane, Becky Arnold, Hayden, ID, James (Sylvia) Rivard, Phoenix, AZ, Joe Rivard, Flagstaff, AZ, Jessica Morris, Maysville, OK, Lisa Loper, Pauls Valley, OK, and Heather Morris, Maysville, OK. She is also survived by ten great-grandchildren and many beloved nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by William T. Lawlor; daughters Nina Brooks Rivard and Rebecca A. Lawlor; as well as her brothers Beryl Griggs and Glenn Griggs.
A life celebration was held at the family home in Spokane on Monday, Dec. 16th, at 2pm. Burial will take place at a later date in Miles City. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Spokane, P.O. Box 2215, Spokane, WA 99210 or to First Baptist Church, Miles City, MT 59301.
