Shirley Ann Gackle (Stanton) went to be with the Lord on February 21, 2014, at the age of 83 after a short illness.
She was born in Miles City, Montana on August 31, 1930, daughter of Floyd and Elsie Jacobson. She grew up in Miles City and later lived in the Brusett and Jordan area. At that time, she was married to Bill Stanton.
She loved the farm life and for several years enjoyed being a one-room school teacher. She had many hobbies and loved to sew and do almost any type of craft. She learned to fly small planes and was a very good pilot! Shirley made many friends and was sad to leave country life.
She moved back to Miles City and also spent time in Terry, Montana while married to Alvin Gackle. She owned several rentals and was quite good at fixing and repairing them herself. Due to declining health, she moved to Billings to be closer to her daughter and family.
Shirley lived for many years in Billings but always loved Brusett and Miles City. Her wish was to be buried next to her mother, father, and other relatives in Miles City.
Survivors include her daughter, Linda (Rick) Kouba; her only brother, Robert (Marie) Jacobson; her grandchildren, Lance Kouba and Amber (Ben) Zaino; great-grandchildren, Bella and Ky Kouba, Rheana, Isaiah and Raisa Zaino; nephews, Kim, Chuck and Artie Jacobson. Shirley will be missed by all of her family and friends, but we know we will be with her one day in Heaven. Thanks to all at Valley Health Center who filled her last days with love and care. They are all angels.
A private family burial service will take place at a later date. Bullis Mortuary has been entrusted with the arrangements.
